Polyfloc A-500

Description

Polyfloc A-500 is an extremely high molecular weight, medium anionic, emulsion polymer, recom¬mended for water clarification and waste water treatment.

Properties

Polyfloc A-500 is highly effective in dewatering industrial slurries as well as in water clarification appli¬cations. Applications where Polyfloc A-500 has experienced excellent results include heavy metals re¬moval, paper mill and air scrubber water clarification, inorganic sludge filtration, food processing industry and non-potable water clarification.

Preparation and Dosage

When used as a flocculant or a coagulant aid, typical addition levels range between 0.1-2.5 ppm. Before pre-paring a solution of Polyfloc A-500, stir the con¬tents of the drum to insure product uniformity on a daily basis. Since solutions can be more viscous than the neat product, a maximum concentration of 0.5% is recommended. To prepare a solution, fill the polymer make-up vessel half full with clean water at a tempera-ture below 40°C. Turn on the mixer and add the ap-propriate volume of emulsion to the vortex.
Then add the remaining volume of water and agitate for 15-20 minutes.
For best results, the solution should be further diluted inline or in a holding tank. Dilute polymer solutions should be used within 3 days.

Handling

Polyfloc A-500 should be stored where tempera¬ture conditions are between 5-35°C. In-house storage is recommended. Avoid freezing and direct sunlight which could degrade the product. Recommended materials for storage and han¬dling are plastic, glass, epoxy lined, or stainless steel equipment.
Polyfloc A-500 will retain its high molecular weight and activity in storage for periods of at least six months.
Polymer spills are very slippery and should be wiped up immediately.
The use of rubber gloves and a face shield is recom¬mended when handling the product.
Before use review the Material Safety Data Sheet for additional information.
